Back from the break

A session with Domenica,

Presenting a chronology, recounting time in a speculative sense, and we can go into different tangents in time etc. We are engaging with our community therefore we need to create something intimate.

Initially the collaborative agreement is to potentially as a group asking things of each other. Asking a peer to send a voice note etc. How can I engage with the community, what will I ask people to do? A lot of collaborative agreements needs to be created. Harmonious collaboration to create a good workload. What am I up to in terms of my collective memories. The submission will be the collection of what happened.

Last year people were telling a story of an engagement of local communities. Telling a narratives of the people within their town. Maybe there would be a bigger story of resonance or echoes etc. At the end people would present in different mediums, example: websites, videos, audio etc. We need to be discussing Visual communication because last year there was very little consideration of effectively communicating one’s ideas. Engagement is essential.

For us is internal community – MAIP – we are going to have to work together.

I will be the narrator, chronology of MAIP – it could be MAIP dreams. How can you chronologically tap into someone else’s dreams. Can you note your dreams for a period of time and send it to me. Dreaming? Day dreaming? and how can you embed them together. For example. Weave their stories into each other. What does it mean to go into whatever community out there and recount their stories based on my engagement with them. Respectful, reflective and honoring their voices.

How can I as a creative cultural practitioner reflect the stories and translate it visually. How can we do it as a chronology. What does it mean to recount reflect memories. Bring careful not to distract data that is unethical and be respectful.

Story-telling: Understanding, truly understanding the essence of what this person tried to communicate and convey to the world. Capturing that in the best way possible, by keeping a lot of data analysis and keeping track of that. Using their own words. Me as a narrator I need to find ways of communicating whether it’s in words or visual elements or actions. And beeng respectful with the author, and going back and forth to be ethical.

A document or a disclaimer that says everyone in this story has consented to this.

Visual communication Because we are sharing work thats digital. ASMR works with tactility and sound.

Re-grounding – take turns to share your work in progress and lessons on failure.
Shared my big learning this week

recommended reading – visual communication design – intro to vis com and a guide to how to communicate everything.

MAIP has many layers – how do we start considering and guiding audiences to go beyond the moment of attention.

Being intentional with all the tools you have in hand to visually communicate. This is something that will be really impactful in your submission.
Designing for encounters – What makes encounters with your work fulfilling and memorable ? When people wear my work, that fills my heart.
Domenica loves maps to show the complexity.

This is a website that I explored,

My thoughts: very interesting that there are moving elements.
Dynamic with the illustrations
videos are interesting
navigation is not straight forward

It is trying to provoke a different reading to how people see things.
